The financial crisis our nation is facing is a very important subject that must be addressed immediately. The National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) is working with the government to try and find a solution to this problem. To better educate the public on the crisis the Academy has come up with Budgetball as a means of educating young people, and the general public, about economics.

The Union of International Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers was founded in 1865 and ever since has been dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life their workers. In order to accomplish this they have decided to participate in Budgetball to help keep their workers informed of business and budgeting practices. During their annual meeting, teams of Bricklayers will compete in the Budgetball Challenge.

The Evans School of Public Affairs is dedicated to making its students the leaders of tomorrow. As advocates of deliberation on issues that affect their community and the national community they strive to make their students more informed about topics of great importance to our nation. They conducted a Budgetball tournament as one more way to keep their students informed on public policy concerning the financial challenges for our nation.

The National Youth Leadership Conference hosts high school students from across the country. Each week, hundreds of students come to Washington, DC to learn more about our nation's capitol and gain the leadership skills in the process. NYLC’s aim is to make students more conscious of key issues in the government by giving them a more hands on approach than would be found in the classroom. This semester, NYLC students will compete weekly in Budgetball games to become aware of the financial challenges in the government and at the personal level.

Ashoka is a global organization that identifies and invests in leading social entrepreneurs. Ashoka leaders will participate in a Budgetball training session on October 1, 2009. The training will focus on how to effectively integrate Budgetball into student leadership conferences throughout the year.

Interns from NAFEO, HACU and the Washington Intern Program will play Budgetball on the National Mall in front of the Smithsonian castle on Tuesday, October 6th at 5:30 P.M. The interns, who represent over 300 universities across the country, will be learning about opportunities to become more involved in civic engagement and fiscal responsibility.

Youth Serve America, a service learning organization, will host a Budgetball training session for over 30 teachers that are highlighting financial literacy skills for high school students in their classrooms across the country. The teachers will learn how to take the teaching out of the classroom and onto the field with Budgetball. The session is part of a Learn and Serve America Conference in Crystal City.

Over the course of three days, ten students who were each hand selected by the President of their HBCU will attend a Budgetball Scholar training in Washington, D.C. The training will cover every aspect of successfully implementing Budgetball on campus, especiallyhow to use Budgetball as an entry point for conversations about fiscal responsibility at the national and personal levels.

The 2010 NCAA Division III Leadership Conference will host the NAPA Budgetball pilot program on January 21, 2010.
