Ten HBCUs Selected for Budgetball Civic Engagement Initiative
The National Academy of Public Administration and the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education have selected ten HBCUs to participate in the 2009-2010 Budgetball Civic Engagement Initiative: Howard University, Southern University Law Center, Philander Smith College, Kentucky State University, North Carolina A & T, Savannah State University, Hampton University, Rust College, Central State University, and Voorhees. National Academy Staff Budgetball Challenge

The financial crisis our nation is facing is a very important subject that must be addressed immediately. The National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) is working with the government to try and find a solution to this problem. To better educate the public on the crisis the Academy has come up with Budgetball as a means of educating young people, and the general public, about economics.

International Union of Bricklayers - Annual Meeting

The Union of International Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers was founded in 1865 and ever since has been dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life their workers. In order to accomplish this they have decided to participate in Budgetball to help keep their workers informed of business and budgeting practices. During their annual meeting, teams of Bricklayers will compete in the Budgetball Challenge.

As advocates of deliberation on issues that affect their community and the national community they strive to make their students more informed about topics of great importance to our nation. They conducted a Budgetball tournament as one more way to keep their students informed on public policy concerning the financial challenges for our nation.

The Washington Center Civic Engagement Fair

Thousands of college students from over 600 Universities come to Washington, DC each year to participate in The Washington Internship Program. In addition to internships, students must complete a civic engagement requirement as part of their experience. The National Academy of Public Administration will offer Budgetball and fiscal responsibility as one of the civic engagement options for students participating during the fall semester. -

Budgetball HBCU Civic Engagement Initiative Training Academy

Over the course of three days, ten students who were each hand selected by the President of their HBCU will attend a Budgetball Scholar training in Washington, D.C.
